• Justice and Peace Europe meets in Copenhagen and Malmö

    The Conference of European Justice & Peace Commissions will meet from 25 to 28 September 2015 in Copenhagen and Malmö for their annual International Workshop and General Assembly. The general theme of the International Workshop is “European models of living together– experiences in Copenhagen and Malmö”. H.E. Jean-Claude Hollerich, the Archbishop of Luxembourg and President of Justice and Peace Europe, will moderate the General Assembly. Twenty of the thirty-one European Justice and Peace commissions will be represented in Copenhagen. The event is organised in close cooperation with the Justice and Peace Commissions of Denmark and Sweden.

    The opening ceremony will be held at the City Hall of Copenhagen and the Mayor for Children and Youth Ms.Pia Allerslev will welcome the delegates. Furthermore, the program of the International Workshop includes visits of initiatives working for the integration of refugees and migrants and the Danish Institute for Human Rights, as well as encounters with representatives of the media and political parties.

    The General Assembly of Justice and Peace Europe, which will be held on Sunday the 27th, will be an occasion to exchange reports on the work in the national Justice and Peace Commissions. A draft statement on the new set of Sustainable Development Goals will be discussed and the theme for the Concerted Action 2016 will be adopted.

    During the meeting delegates will be received by H.E.Czeslaw Kozon, the Bishop of Copenhagen. Bishop Anders Arborelius of Stockholm and President of the Swedish Justice and Peace Commission will celebrate Mass with them on Monday the 28th in Malmö.

    The Conference of European Justice and Peace Commissions (Justice and Peace Europe) is the alliance of 31 Justice and Peace Commissions in Europe, working for the promotion of justice, peace and respect for human dignity. Justice and Peace Europe contributes to raising awareness of the Catholic social doctrine in the European societies and the European institutions. Its General Secretariat is based in Brussels.
