Malta’s observance of the 2017 Christian Season of Creation (1st September to 4th October), will close with the celebration of Mass by Bishop Mario Grech, at the Conventual Franciscan Church, Valletta, on Sunday 1st October, at 10:30 a.m. The Bishop will also bless projects on environmental issues created by students attending SkolaSajf.
The events marking the Season of Creation, organised jointly by the Church Environment Commission (KA) and Nature Trust Malta (NTM), will come to an end on Wednesday 4th October, with a public meeting entitiled ‘Laudato Sì: Interfaith and Secular Perspectives on Care for Creation’, held at the Millennium Chapel, St Julian’s, from 4:30 to 6:00 p.m. Keynote speakers include representatives of Christian faith, Jews, Muslims, as well as representatives of environmental NGOs and Mediterranean regional organisations.
The meeting will also be addressed by the President of Malta, Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca, the Apostolic Nuncio to Malta, Mgr Alessandro D’Errico, the Vicar General of the of the Archdiocese of Malta, Mgr Joseph Galea Curmi, and by the European Commissioner for the Environment, Karmenu Vella. This meeting will precede the international conference ‘Our Ocean’, organised by the European Union on 5th October and 6th October in St Julian’s.
