For the second consecutive year, the Literacy Team in collaboration with ‘Let me Learn and Writing Programme within the Secretariat for Catholic Education are organizing a Literacy Week for Church Schools children, entitled “Fairies tell Tales”. The activities are being held at The Mediterranean Conference Centre, Valletta, and at the Lower Barrakka. Over 1000 students will be participating.
The aim is to expose Grade 2 students and their teachers to literacy through hands-on activities in a diverse and interactive way. Different activities, all including literacy skills, include:
1) Little Red’s Trail following a trail to find the treasure
2) Dressing up with Cinders – a puppet show – Literacy through Maths
3) Witch’s Pot – Literacy through science
4) Stejjer maˈ Fatatina
Literacy Week started yesterday, Monday 15th April, and will go on till Friday 19th April. The aim of this week is to create awareness of the importance of reading and writing through fun. This activity has been sponsored by Agenda Book Shop, Merlin Library and Nestlè Malta.
