In summer 2016, Hamish completed postgraduate studies with distinction from the University of Oxford, where he read for an MPhil in Music at New College. He specialised in performance, whilst also researching the influence of Solesmes on Catholic church music in early twentieth century England, under the supervision of Professor Robert Quinney.
