DISCERN, the Diocesan Research Institute on the Signs of the Times, is convening a round table on Thursday, 21 July 2022, to reflect on the findings of a study of representations of Catholicism in Malta. In the words of the research report, “The study of representations of Catholicism in Malta is important. By studying such representations, one opens a window into the Maltese cultural milieu. More importantly, changes in the local representation of Catholicism over time reflect, precipitate, and run parallel to, changes within the wider social sphere.” (p.11)
Dr Luke Buhagiar, while Chief Research Officer at Discern, led the research, will present the study’s principal findings. Three experts and commentators on trends in Maltese society and in the Catholic Church will examine the research report and reflect upon it from a range of perspectives. The event will conclude with questions and remarks from the floor.
The general public is invited to attend this event which will be held in The Old Refectory at the Archbishop’s Curia in Floriana. The seminar will start at 6pm and till 8pm. Due to space restrictions, kindly reserve a place by emailing [email protected] or by calling 25906136, by noon on Tuesday, 19 July 2022.
