The Jesuits’ Church Foundation proudly presents its third cultural season at the Oratories. The new season brings many exciting news including a rebranding of the season as The Oratories.

The season will launch on Thursday 10th October at 19:30 with a tribute to Giacomo Puccini whose 100th anniversary of his death is being celebrated this year. Renowned soprano Miriam Cauchi, accompanied by pianist Maria Elena Farrugia, will present a programme dedicated to Puccini’s operatic oeuvre. Puccini remains the focus of the October musical events, with soprano Stephanie Portelli (also accompanied by Maria-Elena Farrugia) presenting a recital of rarely heard Puccini art songs on Thursday 24th October.

This season promises to be an exciting one for all lovers of knowledge, as more disciplines are now represented in The Oratories’ public lecture programme, including philosophy, sociology, and Jesuit studies. The first lecture of the season will be by Liam Gauci, Senior Curator at the Maritime Museum on Thursday 17th October at 18:30, who will tackle corsairing in 18th century Malta.

October comes to an end with the first in The Oratories literary programme, with author and director André Mangion reading out works on death and loss on Thursday 31st October at 19:30, the eve of All Hallows. He will be joined by guitarist Franco Tartaglia for the evening.

It is the Foundation’s policy to create a space that is welcoming to all and allows everyone to have access to culture and beauty.

All of the events on the programme are free of charge, but donations towards the programme are welcome. ‘

The Oratories’ cultural programme is run by The Jesuits’ Church Foundation.
