On Wednesday 8 March 2023, there will be a presentation of a new icon at the Faculty of Theology, created by Ms Cynthia Sammut and Ms Stephanie Borg.
In 2017, Ms Sammut completed her Master of Arts in Spirituality, with a dissertation entitled Discovering Christian Identity and Memory Through the Meeting of Jesus with the Samaritan Woman (Jn 4:1-42). During a conversation between Sammut and artist Stephanie Borg, they produced a representative icon of what Cynthia explored in her dissertation: a word painted from a scrutinised and written word.
The presentation will take place in the Council Room of the Rectorate Building of the University Msida Campus, starting at 16:00, under the theme The Gift of Life: The Fruit of Dialogue between a Woman and the New Adam (Jn 4:1-42).
The program, which lasts for an hour, will include short presentations of about a quarter of an hour on the dissertation by Ms Sammut, the icon itself by Ms Borg, biblical insights from the icon by the supervisor, Rev. Dr Paul Sciberras, and reflections on how Theology can be relevant today by the Dean, Rev. Dr Stefan Attard.
